  • What are the Toll Roads?

There are currently three toll roads in New Zealand – the Northern Gateway Toll Road north of Auckland between Silverdale and Warkworth, and the Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road and the Takitimu Drive Toll Road, both in Tauranga. These use electronic toll collection, so you do not need to stop to pay for the toll road. In each case there are alternative, non-tolled roads. For more information on toll roads, see the NZTA site.

If you have used a toll road, it is your responsibility to pay for the toll road by going to the NZTA website via the ‘Purchase Pay & Go’ link on the NZTA website: https://tollingonline.nzta.govt.nz/#/purchasetrips/prerequisites.

You can also pay at: • At selected service stations*, or • Over the phone by calling the NZTA contact centre on 0800 40 20 20*

*Paying tolls either at the service station or over the phone to NZTA incurs a transaction or service fee.

If you fail to pay your tolls and we receive your toll infringement notice, we will transfer liability to you, this will incur a $20 administration fee.
