A steep climb
Time: 2 to 3 hours return
Grade: Moderate/Difficult
Start: Belfast Terrace Get Google Maps Directions
The amazing views from the top of Queenstown Hill are worth the 500 metre climb! Start your hike on Belfast Terrace (a steep street which is only the start of your climb). You’ll wind up through a pine forest towards the summit of Te Tapu-nui. There are information plaques along the path explaining the history of the area and how it came to be the adventure capital of New Zealand.
At the summit you’re rewarded with 360 views of the entire Queenstown area including Lake Wakatipu, the Remarkables and Cecil Peak and see the big iron “Basket of Dreams” sculpture. After you’ve had a rest and enjoyed the views it’s a whole lot easier coming down!
